Welcome to 6th grade Spanish!
In 6th grade we will focus on the 4 aspects of language learning - reading, writing, speaking and listening at the beginning level. This is an exciting year because students progress from knowing very little Spanish to being able to hold simple conversations in the language.
Topics we will cover include: introductions and greetings, hobbies, class subjects, family, numbers, food, weather and homes. Within each topic there will be a variety of cultural connections and opportunities for students to creatively express themselves. Assessments will cover each of the 4 areas of language learning through quizzes, short projects, and speaking interviews.
Homework is minimal in 6th grade Spanish, as many of our exercises are completed in class. The main homework students will have is oral, practicing the material they learned in class at home. Also, there are many websites available at a variety of levels. Duolingo at https://www.duolingo.com/ is one we will occasionally use in class and is highly recommended.
If you have any questions, I am available after school, via email ([email protected] or within the Google school account, [email protected]) or by phone at 309-862-4462
If you would like additional help from a tutor, I would recommend contacting Katie Hesser at [email protected]
